Del Water Gap, fresh off of his success of the new album “I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet,” made two stops in Boston for two very sold-out shows. S. Holden Jaffe, aka Del Water Gap has embarked on his largest tour yet and we were there for night two of two very special nights in Boston.
The night got off to a great start thanks to opener Kristiane, who really got the crowd jamming along to her set. The vibes were electric at The Royale and fans were eager for what the rest of the night had in store for them.
The clock hit 9pm and it was time for Del Water Gap to take on the stage with the full band. And out they came to the screams from the crowd that were pretty deafening. The stage set up was very unique, decorated with a small bed, a TV, stairs, and a white backdrop with moody lighting throughout the set. The stage setup alone really set the venue for the performance, and it added a nice touch you don’t see very often at shows.
Del Water Gap opened the set with “NFU”, to the crowd’s delight, bringing the energy early on to his set. A total of 18 songs would be played that night with a majority of them being from the stellar new album. Some older favorites like, ‘Perfume’, ‘Ode to a Conversation Stuck In Your Throat’, and ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ were also part of the night’s repertoire. Fans in attendance that night were more than happy with the setlist.
Del Water Gap took a moment in the show to show his appreciation for Boston, calling it one of his favorite places to play, while he reminisced on his Sinclair show and how it was his biggest to date. Now selling out The Royale for two nights, he appreciated every moment of this night. A well-deserved moment for sure. It was truly such an emotional night full of all the memories and dancing you could imagine. Del Water Gap surely knows how to put on a fantastic high energy and emotional show. You just had to be there to witness greatness.
