Quarters of Change brought their Deluxe Tour to a sold-out night in Boston. Accompanied by Late Night Drive Home, the band is currently on tour to celebrate the release of their 2022 debut full-length, Into the Rift, an alt-rock album that challenges the norms of what rock music can and should be.
The New York City natives released their much-anticipated debut last summer after signing with Elektra Records. The record clocks in at just under 45 minutes, but never stops to take a breath until they have said what they needed to say. They had the opportunity to tour the record with the LA-based band, Bad Suns, and have finally taken the step into the limelight with their first ever US headlining tour.
The tour follows the November deluxe release of Into the Rift, which adds 3 songs from their sessions with Mikey Freedom Hart, whose producing credits include Taylor Swift, Bleachers, Blood Orange and more.
The band began with “Jaded,” the leading single from their debut and immediately captured the crowd’s attention with a thundering bass drop while they took the stage. Singer Ben Roter unabashedly strolls out donning oversized sunglasses, and timidly begins the set until the chorus crashes in and the whole stage explodes with energy. Guitarists Ben Acker and Jasper Harris whip their instruments around in perfect sync while Roter croons through the song.
The crowd screams and cheers when they launch into “T Love,” an instant hit on both the record and Tik Tok. Acker’s tremolo guitar rings through the crowd over drummer Attila Anrather’s snare hits, instantly prompting the crowd to clap along. Roter’s vocals project throughout the venue, but are nearly drowned out by the singing and hollering of the crowd. Roter grabs a guitar himself while Acker and Harris rip through harmonized guitar licks to finish out the first stretch of their set and the beginning of a promising career for the quartet.
