From Chvrches to Solo Stardom: Lauren Mayberry Shines in Boston

Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches made her way to Boston for a sold-out show at Brighton Music Hall. But she wouldn’t be with her usual bandmates in Chvrches. This time around she was performing as herself, with her first solo act to a crowd eager to hear her new music.

You could feel the energy in the room from how excited the crowd was to see Lauren in a totally
different form, solo. But she was still her same self. It was refreshing to see her in a new light with her own body of work aside from Chvrches, who are also magnificent.

Her set started off with a long intro of a “Maybe This Time” by Liza Minnelli and then out she came to the roar of the crowd. She opened her set with “Bird” to the crowd’s delight. A lot of these songs fans were hearing for the first time, so they were really in for a treat. Lauren has such amazing stage presence and she danced and twirled along to the more upbeat songs. The crowd was loving every moment and they danced along with her. Not only were the fans treated to new songs from Lauren’s solo work, but they were also treated to a few covers as well, which she absolutely slayed. One cover she did was the iconic “Like A Prayer” by Madonna, and the other was “Voices Carry” by ‘Til Tuesday. It was an iconic moment all around, and one the crowd was definitely not expecting.

Lauren had the crowd up and off their feet all night, singing along to songs and basking in the moment of the night. It was certainly a night to remember. Lauren sure knows how to put on a fantastic show.
