Madison Beer Stuns at MGM Music Hall at Fenway

TikTok sensation Madison Beer brought her Silence Between Songs album tour, titled “The Spinnin Tour,” to the MGM Music Hall at Fenway on Saturday night, captivating the audience with an electrifying performance. The pop star created a mesmerizing space-themed atmosphere, delivering a dynamic setlist that seamlessly combined her beloved throwback hits with exciting new music from her latest album.

The audience, comprising fans of all ages, sported glitter bows, embellished leather jackets, and more as they eagerly awaited Beer’s appearance on stage. Before her appearance, the show started with performances from up-and-coming artists Ellise and Charlotte Lawrence.

On the final night of her tour opening, Ellise took the stage in a vibrant red mini dress, captivating the audience with her electrifying performances of “911” and “Nightmares.” The budding pop sensation infused her dark hits with energy, moving across the stage and accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, setting the stage alight and building anticipation for Charlotte Lawrence’s upcoming set.

Next up was Lawrence, stepping onto the stage clad in a vintage Ford baby tee paired with a navy blue skirt. She exuded an indie-pop vibe as she strummed on her electric guitar. Lawrence played her songs “How It Ends,” “I Don’t Wanna Dance,” and more.

One particularly memorable opening moment was Lawrence’s debut performance of Coldplay’s “Yellow,” a cover she delivered with her signature raspy voice. As she sang under the glow of deep yellow stage lights, Lawrence immersed the audience in the poignant atmosphere of the song.

Once Beer hit the stage following the intro of a black and white monochromatic clock on the main screen and space graphics, the crowd screamed as she began to play “Home To Another One.” The stage setup appeared grander than its simple components—a raised platform, stairs, and a screen — thanks to ingenious video design featuring satellite views of Earth from the window seat of an airplane, like landscape extending into the distance. This clever use of visuals created an impression of a spectacle much larger than the sum of its parts.

The crowd’s enthusiasm was palpable as they sang the lyrics even louder than she did, their voices echoing fervently. Accompanied by a two-person band, Beer graced the stage stairs and balanced the essential facets of 21st-century pop stardom, exuding both relatability and an air of untouchable allure.

Beer’s live set, which featured nearly all of her recent second album and a significant selection of earlier hits, was thoughtfully divided into three distinct segments. The first segment included tracks like the sultry Turtles-sampling “Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You)” and “17,” during which Beer tossed pastel flowers into the crowd.

As the crowd caught the flowers one by one, Beer seamlessly transitioned into her hit “Sweet Relief.” She sang it with powerful, emotive vocals that captivated the audience, all set against a backdrop of space-themed graphics and a now-rainbow-lit staircase. The evening peaked when she performed her latest single, “Make You Mine.” The venue transformed into a lively dance party as the seductive yet uplifting track played, prompting over 5,000 fans to jump up and down with such intensity that the roof might come off.

As the performance continued at MGM, there was a noticeable shift in the atmosphere when Beer began to play her song “Selfish,” a sultry and emotionally charged ballad that gained significant attention in 2021. A haunting sense of melancholy seemed to settle over the crowd as smoke machines enveloped Beer on stage, casting a shadowy presence amidst the staircase as she sang the ballad.

One of the night’s most touching moments occurred during “Ryder,” a song Beer penned herself, drawing inspiration from her childhood and dedicated to her brother, Ryder Beer, who is also involved in the music industry. The emotional performance delved into the complexities of siblinghood amidst their parents’ divorce. As Beer sang, the backdrop displayed a poignant slideshow of videos and photos from their childhood, adding depth to the heartfelt performance.

As the night drew to a close, Beer took to the stage to perform “King of Everything,” the final track on her album, rumored to be inspired by music manager Scooter Braun. As the emotional anthem filled the air, the crowd raised their phone lights towards the stage, creating a sea of glowing lights. Beer was visibly moved, shedding a few tears as she gazed at the crowd

As the final notes of her anthemic performance echoed through the hall, Beer stood center stage as confetti fell, bathed in the glow of the adoring crowd’s applause. With tears of gratitude in her eyes, she bid farewell to her fans, leaving behind a memory of a night where music and cosmic energy collided to create an unforgettable experience.
