Mt. Joy’s Exemplary Return: Another Unforgettable Show in Boston

With palpable excitement, the city of Boston embraced the return of Mt. Joy as the band arrived to grace the stage at the MGM Music Hall for two unforgettable nights. Their last visit, marked by the “Orange Blood Tour,” left a lasting impression, and now, they’re back with a tour that weaves together great songs that have defined their illustrious career.

The band’s talented members, including Matt Quinn (vocals/guitar), Sam Cooper (guitar), Michael Byrnes (bass), Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), and Jackie Miclau (keyboard), took to the stage with radiant smiles on the first night of their Boston visit. Mt. Joy kicked off the show with their track, “Sheep.” During their performance, they joyfully expressed how Boston holds a special place in their hearts, especially for lead vocalist Matt Quinn, who spent five years living here and crafting the very songs that now take center stage on their nationwide tour.

Hailing from Philadelphia, the band is renowned for their captivating indie rock sound, which has garnered a massive following since their debut single, “Astrovan,” in 2016. The enthusiastic turnout at the venue was a testament to their popularity. Naturally, “Astrovan” was part of the night’s setlist, alongside other cherished fan favorites such as “Dirty Love,” “Julia,” and “Lemon Tree.”

The night was divided into two sets. The first set featured tranquil, slower songs, creating a serene ambiance in the venue. However, when the second set kicked off with its more upbeat melodies, the energy in the venue skyrocketed to an exhilarating new level.

During the middle of the second set, drummer Sotiris Eliopoulos captivated the audience with an extensive drum solo, creating one of the most exhilarating moments of the evening.

The band concludes the evening with their performances of “Bathroom Light” and “Astrovan,” saying goodbye to their enthusiastic fans and expressing their eagerness to return for another performance the following day.

Mt. Joy consistently delivers an effortlessly lighthearted and enjoyable performance to the city. Their music pays homage to classic and nostalgic musical styles, rekindling the deep emotions and joy that music can evoke. Attending one of their shows is like gathering with friends, creating a sense of inclusivity and merriment that leaves a lasting impression.
