Orville Peck stampeded his way to Boston for a sold out show at MGM Music Hall at Fenway on Oct. 16.
From the moment he stepped onto the stage, it was clear that this was going to be a night to remember. Dressed in his signature cowboy attire, his full green suit was decked out in rhinestone horses that gave him an extra sparkle. He has since dropped the full mask look and opted for just an eye mask now, still giving him that mysterious but cool look. Peck exuded an air of mystery and charisma that really captivated the audience.
Peck opened up the show with “Big Sky”— a pivotal song that got him started in the industry. It was met with a joyous roar from the crowd. The set list overall was a grand mixture of songs from his past to new songs from his recently released album Stampede. Orville does such a great job at blending genres of country, pop, and rock in his music creating a unique sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. Each song felt like a journey, with stories of heartache, love, and longing, all delivered with such raw emotion.
Not only was the music captivating, but the visual aspect of the show was equally captivating, featuring stellar lighting and set designs that enhanced the overall experience. The blend of Western aesthetics with a modern twist felt perfectly aligned with Peck’s artistic vision, which made the whole performance that much better.
There were a lot of sweet moments throughout the show including Peck handing out roses to fans in the crowd who had the best energy. One rose was handed out to a guy in a decked out cowboy outfit, and another to a person who traveled all the way from Scotland to see Orville, which is true dedication.
Orville sure knows how to put on a fantastic show and it was evident in Boston. He shared heartfelt stories behind the meaning of songs and made sure everyone was singing along and dancing all night long in a sea of cowboy hats. Make sure you get the chance to see him live, you surely don’t want to miss out on a great time!
