CONCERT REVIEW: COLBIE CAILLAT AT SHUBERT THEATER

Colbie Caillat, singer/songwriter from California, started her music career by posting videos of her music on MySpace. After only eight months, she became the number one unsigned artist on the platform. Colbie Caillat brings her 15th anniversary tour to Boston, where fans get the opportunity to experience the singer’s greatest hits from her album “Coco”.

Nick Davidson opens the show. The singer/songwriter from West Virginia shares with the crowd that he met Colbie while singing in a club in Nashville. He was playing a set of covers when Colbie approached him and invited him to join her tour. The singer presents us with some of his original songs “Wild West”, and “Gone since Yesterday”, where he accompanies his vocals with his acoustic guitar. Davidson also sings the song “West Virginia”, giving an homage to his hometown.

Colbie Caillat opens the show with her song “Oxygen” and proceeds to sing all the rest of the hits that shaped her career.  She performed fan favorites like “Bubbly”, “Try” and “Tied Down”, and even sang “Lucky”, a song that she wrote with Jason Mraz and awarded her a Grammy award in the year of 2009. The artist shares the importance that her family plays in her life and how she has taken inspiration from them in her writing process. Her song “Midnight Bottle” was born from a conversation she had with her sister and brother-in-law over a night of drinks. Colbie brings a great band of musicians to this tour, they impress the crowd with outstanding guitar and piano solos and great vocals.

Through her music, Colbie Caillat reminds us in a great way how wonderful the most ordinary things in life can be. From spending time with family to falling in love. Her music still gives fans of all ages a space to relate and bond on deep feelings and great experiences. Colbie Caillat’s 15th anniversary tour is one you should not miss.
