Mt Joy brings their Orange Blood tour to the city of Boston. The band, originally from Philadelphia, started touring the country during the summer with the plan to present 43 shows in 37 different cities.
The band “Brook & The Bluff” opens the show with their song “Straws” and set the venue for a great night of music. The Nashville-based band had their beginning as a duo act originally composed by singer Joseph Settine and guitarist Alec Bolton, and the full band was later formed when John Canada and Fred Lankford joined the duo. The band presented a total of ten original songs. Brook & The Bluff will be accompanying Mt. Joy for the rest of their “Orange Blood” tour.
Mt. Joy started their career in the year 2016 with their debut single “Astrovan”. Since then, they have released 3 original albums, “Mt. Joy”, “Rearrange”, and “Orange Blood”. The band’s new album brings us their well-known indie folk-rock sound and iconic album cover illustrations. Mt. Joy starts their set with their song “Lemon Tree” as fans cheer them on. The rock influence in their music invites the crowd to dance and jump, creating a high-energy environment at MGM Music Hall. The night continues with songs like “Sheep”, “Jenny Jenkins”, and “Silver Lining”. In this show, the audience immerses themselves in the day to day life of the band. It is if we have all been invited to one of their studio sessions. The band feeds from the crowd’s energy, almost creating a sense of collaboration between the artists and the fans. Mt. Joy performs three more songs after the encore and finished the night with their song “Astrovan”, the song that started their whole music journey.
The “Orange Blood” tour brings us a great set of music, including some songs from previous albums that are fans’ favorites. Mt. Joy is their last days of their tour, and I would encourage you to check them out if they are coming to a town near you. Their high, energetic hits bring a sense of euphoria to the experience, and their quitter ballads give the crowd permission to ponder and reflect. The relatable themes in their songs and the great composition of their music makes this show very easy to enjoy.
