The Aces Take on Royale with an Inclusive and Electrifying Performance

The Aces made their way to Boston for a sold-out night at Royale with thousands of adoring fans waiting to hear songs from ‘I’ve Loved You For So Long’, the band’s most recent album release. The Aces consist of sisters Alisa (drummer) and Cristal Ramirez (singer/guitarist), McKenna Petty (bass), and Katie Henderson (guitar). The girls hail from Provo, Utah and have been slaying in the indie pop scene ever since they started making music. Now on a tour that sees them traveling across the world, The Aces have surely made a name for themselves and a home for their devoted fanbase. Their songs touch on the subjects of growing up queer in a place where it was not very welcomed, and a lot of their fans resonate with the messages in their songs. They know how to make beautiful songs that many can relate to. It’s encouraging to see how many people love the band as much as The Aces love their fans.

And The Aces surely do love their fans or, as they call them, ‘The Ace Faces’. The fans were in for a treat in Boston as they would hear a majority of the songs from their new album, some for the very first time. This wasn’t the first time The Aces were in Boston this year, as they played the Boston Calling Music Festival earlier this May and that was a spectacular moment for them. Surely some fans from that show were also here this night.

The night got off to a great start thanks to opener Carol Ades, who really wowed the crowd. They were loving every moment of her set. A stellar start to the night for sure.

It was finally time for The Aces to take the stage and they came out to screams from the crowd that were deafening. They had a unique stage setup with a checkerboard floor that really fit their vibe for this album cycle, which was suits and ties and black and white. They even came out rocking the suit and tie look with Cristal wearing the ever so cool shades.

Opening up their set with “Always Get This Way”, which got the crowd dancing early on. We love to see it. They played a total of 11 songs from the new album and a handful of songs from their previous work.

The Aces surely know how to put on a fantastic show each time they are in Boston. They had the crowd dancing and grooving all night long, while also creating a safe space for their very queer fanbase to sing their hearts out and feel welcome amongst each other. It was such a wholesome night all over and many fans held up pride flags and showed support for one another.

The Aces shows are always so welcoming and inclusive and that’s what we love about them. You can tell the girls love everyone in their crowds each and every night and it’s such a joy to see the smiles on peoples people’s faces in a place that feels like home to them. What a night to remember for sure.
